Dynasty or Destiny?

Forgive me for talking too soon. When the Yankees raced to a seemingly comfortable 3-0 lead, I thought this one's over. The Sox just aren't what people expect them to be at the start of this Championship Series. At least they are due for a fall after sweeping Anaheim in the Division Series. But as the Yankees jumped off to a very strong start, the Red Sox nation was alarmed-- and what fire alarm they have there in Boston, it awakened a sleeping giant and the series is now down to one last game.

After all that's been said and done, everything comes down to this-- Game 7 of the ALCS. Everyone expected this to be this far but not this loose. It suddenly turned out to be a battle of streaks. Three in a row for each team setting up a major league record for the greatest comeback in the history of the game. But why this far? How come the Yankees failed to sweep the Red Sox after getting 3 chances?

We could blame that rain delay, setting up fatigue to be a huge factor against New York. But hell no! The first game after that rain delay the Yanks pounded on the Red Sox-- an astounding 19-8 victory setting up an ALCS record for most runs scored. BUt after that, it's the Sox's turn as they gave the Bronx Bombers a dose of thier own medicine with two come from behing wins in a row. They just didn't want to lose-- not against the Yankees, not against anybody else. What really happened? Is it really fatigue for the Yankees? Maybe. It's difficult to bounce back after being beaten in consecutibe walk off hits and playing consecutive losing games. Or is it the bats of New York suddenly turning zip? Well believe it or not, the then unproductive and untrustworthy bullpen of Boston actually did the trick. Shutting down New York is what's keeping the nation alive. Still, it will remain that way tonight unless the Bombers find a way to solve this puzzle.

Tonight everything will be answered. Will the Curse be finally reversed for the Red Sox? Will itbe a return to the Fall Classic for New York or will it turn out to be a "classic fall" in the Bronx?

I know there's a lot of Sox fans here, but however tough the situation is, the Yankees will win!

I'm a Giants fan, but i am pulling for the Sox. The Yanks epitomize everything that is wrong in baseball today. It can be summed up in two words. George freakin Steinbrenner!
I say it's time for a salary cap similar to what the NBA has. You go over...you get taxed...Simple!

Either way, it's going to be one hell of a game tonight no matter who wins.

I almost had a heart attack watching last nights game. I honestly think it was the BEST game I have ever watched though.
I was sure the sox were gonners when the whole a-rod snafoo happend, but I am happy that the umps made the right call. He totally cheated.
I hope tonights game is just as good as last nights. I would hate for it to be a replay of saturdays..19-8, that hurt.
GO SOX!!

I'm a guy who normally couldn't give a crap about baseball... but this post season for the Sox has gotten me excited again. It definitely helps that I just moved up to CT about a month and a half ago... here everyone is either a passionate Yankees fan (boo evil empire!) or a Sox fan (reverse the curse!), so passions are running high where I work and it's just a ton of fun. I'll be glued to my radio tonight listening to the game (because radio announcers are so much more into it than the pretty boys on TV).

I bet I'll even get into NCAA Basketball in March with all the Huskies fans up here (since we're a stone's throw away from UConn)

GO SOX!

But don't forget this other fact-- the Red Sox are the second high-salary team in the majors. So it's pretty even. We can say it's a test on who's the wiser buyer.

Guess only if the Sox win. Will you still say this is exciting when the Yankees win? Just askin'.
Win or lose I'll always be a Yankee!

Things are working out pretty much in the way that I hoped. The ALCS is going to seven games and there have already been plenty of controversies! If I'm lucky, tonight the yanks will beat the sox in a close game that has at least one bad or contraversial call in the yanks favor. Then they can go on and lose to the NL champ. I've said it before... I can't stand either team, so the best way for their mutual misery is for the sox to fall to the yanks and then the best team money can buy to fall to the NL...

Go Indians!

I think that it is funny that you would question the loyalty of a Red Sox fan--this isn't a bandwagon team--if you are a tired and true Boston diehard you have experienced October heartache for your entire life (ok, unless you are really old, and then MAYBE you remember that glorious 1918 team). And yet, Boston fans stick by their team...we didn't throw it in on Saturday when the Yankees walked all over them, I don't expect to see us turning on our team ever--afterall we are the Red Sox faithful.

Once you've been sucked into Red Sox Nation, there's no going back.

So now... after all that's been said and done the Sox are going to the Fall Classic. Sad coz I'm a diehard Yankee fan (nevermind the money)! I always hoped the Yanks would win, well we had 4 chances but lose 'em all. Enough reason to be disappointed but just like you Red Sox fans, I'm still looking forward for next year and the years after that. Go Sox, reverse the curse! Beat the NL Champs! Next year it's payback time.
